On the 15th of July 2020, the IGP received in audience a cross-section of Civil Society Organizations in the country. The meeting was convened to foster greater understanding and closer cooperation between GPF and CSOs.

In his opening remarks, the IGP welcomed representatives of the Gambia Press Union, Gambia Bar Association, TANGO, and the Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission to his office. He informed them that they were invited to have frank and open discussions about the state of affairs regarding law enforcement, freedom of speech, and responsible journalism.

The deliberations centered on issues affecting both the media and law enforcement agencies with a view to close the gaps for a better partnership as a way forward.

Both sides are committed to improving a good working relationship in the near future through capacity buildings and consultations.

The meeting was attended by the Senior Management of the Police and a cross-section of Civil Society Organizations.
